The Consciousness Of…
Although life is a journey through time and the physical world, it is also a journey through consciousness. In many ways, that journey through consciousness and the evolution of your awareness are more important than the events that take place in your physical reality.
In this series I will be examining some key themes that reoccur in our travels through consciousness, and looking closely at the patterns of thoughts and feelings that typify them.
Central to the act of examining consciousness is the ability to detach yourself from it. This is where self-observation comes in – the practice of observing the activity of your mind, so you can watch how your thoughts and feelings are woven together to create different states of mind.
The more adept you become at self-observation, the more you realise that the activity of the mind does not define you. Although the mind will continually draw your awareness into it, leading you to identify with false notions of self, the practice of self-observation allows you to see that the deeper truth of who you are lies within your Inner Being, the presence of Being within you that is able to witness and observe what the mind is up to.
